Paralegal

Alicia is a Paralegal in the Corporate and Commercial Department and assists the team with the drafting of documents, legal research and completing filings at Companies House.

Alicia helps companies, or the shareholders or directors of a company in relation to commercial and corporate matters.

  • Legal research into a wide range of corporate and commercial topics
  • Assisting the team on sales and purchases of entire issued share capitals of various companies.
  • Preparing documentation such as company board minutes, non-disclosure agreements, privacy policies, shareholders agreements and articles of association.
  • Setting up Limited Companies.
  • Making various filings at Companies House on behalf of a company, including confirmation statements, updating the articles of association and filing forms for the allotment, sub-division and re-designation of shares.
  • Updating of the statutory books for a company.

Experience

  • Alicia gained her LLB from Aston University in Birmingham. As part of her degree, she spent a year working as a Legal Standards Intern at Bosch Thermotechnology, which involved reviewing current and proposed English and European standards and law as it relates to product compliance.
  • She completed a Masters degree at the University of Birmingham, gaining a distinction grade. Her focus was on international commercial and trade law, including the way these areas cross over with environmental law. More specifically, Alicia studied Global Competition Law, Financing of International Trade, Commercial Conflict of Laws and Environmental Energy Law. Broadly speaking, her dissertation was an analysis of the UK decarbonisation strategy within the domestic heating and energy sector.
  • Following her law degree and Masters degree, she spent a year working as a paralegal in residential property conveyancing before making the switch to corporate and commercial law.
  • Alicia is currently studying to complete the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE).

Outside of work

When Alicia is not studying, she enjoys regular yoga classes, spending time in nature and socialising with friends and family.
