What drew me to the firm?

Having grown up in Cheltenham and attending University locally I had heard a lot of positive reviews of Hughes Paddison, so when exploring opportunities locally it became an obvious choice. After my first interview I sensed that the firm genuinely invested in its staff, that individual care mattered and it felt like an environment that I would be comfortable in which made the decision to accept a role at the firm an easy one.  

Why pursue a legal career?

By the age of 10, I knew that a career in law was my calling. Despite completing my undergrad and LPC, I decided to gain experience in an office environment first before tackling the job of looking for a training contract. Working in the property department of a SIPP provider in Bristol for two years clarified that I still wanted to pursue my career as a solicitor. Eager to dive back into law and return close to home, I started looking for roles within law firms.

The advantage of being a paralegal before starting training

My time as a paralegal before my training contract has proven invaluable. It allowed me to settle into the firm, understand the workings of Hughes Paddison, and feel comfortable in my role. I highly recommend that anyone embarking on a training contract considers a stint as a paralegal at their firm. It makes the transition much less daunting when you're already familiar with the firm's dynamics.
